Managing director who was remanded over 1MDB released on bail

PUTRAJAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A managing director who was investigated by the special task force probing state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been released.

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Ab Rahman allowed the 48-year-old man, who carries the title Datuk, to be released on RM100,000 (S$35,797) bail with two sureties.

He was detained under Section 17 (A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act which covers bribery.

He was arrested on Saturday and remanded for four days.

There was no request from MACC deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi to extend the remand when the man was brought to the magistrate's court here as his statement had been taken.
