PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Prominent Malaysian banker Nazir Razak has compared the country's political climate with that of the plot of the popular HBO series Game Of Thrones, as he lamented that he was afraid for Malaysia's future.

CIMB group chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, who is the younger brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, on Saturday (Jan 30) shared a poster of the show on Instagram, showing one of the show's characters standing on a ship's deck while it sails into the mist.

"So what lies ahead? The parallels with GoT (Game Of Thrones) continue," Nazir wrote on his Instagram account. "The future terrifies me: I just can't see how our institutions can recover, how our political atmosphere can become less toxic, how our international reputation can be repaired," he added.

"I think we have to pause, fix our moral compass and deal with our structural problems holistically," he wrote.

The HBO show Game Of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin's epic A Song Of Ice And Fire fantasy novel series.

It is not the first time Nazir has made a posting on his Instagram account comparing the country's political turmoil with the show's themes.

Last July, he also posted another image on his Instagram from Game Of Thrones with the comment: "Through this political turmoil, we must preserve and protect the integrity of our institutions or we descend into a game of thrones."
