IPOH (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - It is an offence for Malaysians to register with Singapore online gaming services, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar warns.

Even though Singapore has eased its online gambling ban, the Inspector-General of Police said online gambling is still illegal in Malaysia.

"There are enough channels for people to gamble here, such as Magnum, Toto and so on. As long as a person is in Malaysia and he registers with the Singaporean online sites, he will have to face the music," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a ceremony to honour former orang asli from the Senoi Praaq troupe in conjunction with the 47th anniversary of the VAT 69 commandos unit here on Sunday (Oct 23).

He added that the police are in the process of pushing for stricter gambling laws.
