NIBONG TEBAL (THE STAR / ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A magistrate's court has sentenced a 36-year-old mother of three to six months' jail and a fine of RM2,000 (S$635) for slapping a teacher at a school in Sungai Bakap.

Tan Seow Yen was charged with slapping her child's primary school teacher L. Vanitha, 38, at SJK (C) Chong Kuang in Sungai Bakap at about 5.15pm on Feb 2, 2015.

Vanitha, who taught Bahasa Malaysia to Tan's child, has since been transferred to another school here.

Tan was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Magistrate Shamshol Azwa Martadza ordered for the sentence to run from Wednesday.

DPP Afiq Nazrin Zaharinan prosecuted the case while Tan was represented by lawyer Mohd Ismail Mohamed.
