KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) did not notify Malaysia of any probe related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), Malaysian Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar has said.

In a statement on Saturday (Oct 3), Tan Sri Khalid urged the public not to rely on reports that the FBI was investigating 1MDB and Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The reports claimed that the FBI was investigating the money-laundering allegations against 1MDB.

He reaffirmed that the Malaysian police had not been notified nor received any request for assistance over the matter.

He advised those seeking information to direct all enquiries to the FBI office in Washington.
