Unhealthy air quality in many parts of Malaysia

PETALING JAYA - Unhealthy air quality was recorded in many parts of Malaysia on Monday (Sept 14), with Selangor and Negeri Sembilan most badly affected.

As at 9.00pm, 32 of the country's 52 air-quality monitoring stations tipped into the "unhealthy" range.

Banting in Selangor recorded the highest Air Pollution Index of 180. Unhealthy readings were also recorded in other areas of the state: Pelabuhan Kelang (189), Kuala Selangor (133) and Shah Alam (172).

In Negeri Sembilan, high API readings were seen in Nilai (193), Seremban (180) and Port Dickson (190).

Unhealthy air was also recorded in Johor, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perak and Pahang.

Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
