People checking their names on a voters' list in Kamayut town in Yangon, Myanmar, yesterday. The three main power blocs - the ruling military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party, the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) and ethnic minority parties - all expect to do well at the nationwide polls on Nov 8. It will be the first contested by Ms Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD in a quarter of a century.
