PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Former Malaysian deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has slammed blog posts in Malaysia Today linking him to an alleged relationship with a married woman.

"The wild accusations levelled against me by Raja Petra Kamaruddin in a series of entries in his blog Malaysia Today a few days ago is baseless and malicious," said Tan Sri Muhyiddin in a statement on his Facebook on Thursday (June 16).

"All the accusations are slanderous and was spread solely to destroy my integrity and smells of dirty politics. It is especially disgusting that it is done during this holy month of Ramadan," said the Pagoh MP.

He said that the month of Ramadan is the month of forgiveness and mercy, and he hopes that those who slander him "pray for their sins to be forgiven".

"When he realises his mistake, he should seek forgiveness," said Mr Muhyiddin.

Mr Muhyiddin believes that the accusations against him were to tarnish his reputation, now that he was no longer a Cabinet minister.

"These allegations are God's test for me this Ramadan. I have to calm down, be patient and pray that God will ease my concerns," he said.
