Drug dealer who allegedly used hongbao to distribute drugs nabbed by Malaysia police

MUAR - Malaysia police have detained a man who is believed to have tried to distribute drugs in hongbao packets, state news agency Bernama reported on Wednesday (Feb 10).

The suspect was nabbed at in Kampung Kebun Sayor Bakri in Muar, Johor, on Thursday afternoon after a police team seized a hongbao packet containing 200 pills believed to be eramin 5 in a raid at a house, the report said.

Muar police chief ACP Azman Ayob was quoted by Bernama as saying in a statement released on Wednesday that the raid was carried out after police received a tip-off that the house was used to distribute drugs.

He said the police also seized a cigarette tin containing what was believed to be ketamin weighing 8.56g at the house.

Separately, Azman said a youth believed to be a drug runner was detained at a petrol station in Sungai Balang near Muar on the same day, reported Bernama.

He said the police found two plastic wrappings, each containing compact dried plants believed to be ganja, and 142g of heroin under the suspect's motorcycle seat.
