KLANG (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - An eight-year-old boy became stuck in a drain covered with iron gratings for about 20 minutes when he tried to retrieve his pocket money of RM1 (S$0.33).

The incident happened at SK Batu Belah at 1pm on Tuesday (Oct 11) when the Year Two pupil's pocket money fell into the drain.

He then lifted up one of the drain gratings, but the other gratings were fixed and couldn't be removed.

The boy decided to wriggle inside the covered drain and got trapped.

A team of seven firemen from the Sungai Pinang fire station managed to free the boy, who was in tears, within 15 minutes.

The boy was unhurt.
