PULAU TIOMAN (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A body, believed to be that of missing Briton Gareth David Huntley, has been found in a pond barely a few metres from a kayak storage unit near the conservation camp where the 34-year-old had volunteered in.

Police reported the discovery on Wednesday afternoon but have yet to confirm the identity of the victim.

The Malaysian search and rescue team stumbled upon the body when they were on their way back to the base camp at Pulau Tioman after another fruitless search for Mr Huntley, a portfolio analyst about to start work in Singapore after completing his volunteer stint with Juara Turtle Project.

He could not be reached after going on a solo trek to on May 27. His parents had flown in from London to urge Malaysian authorities to step up search efforts since Monday.
