Baby allegedly left in car for 5 hours dies in Malaysia

KULAI (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A one-year-old Malaysian girl who was allegedly left inside a car for more than five hours in Saleng here has died.

Kulai OCPD Supt Razak Md Said said the toddler's father lodged a police report at around 4.15pm on Tuesday (Sept 13) over the incident.

He said that based upon the report, the man's wife had placed their child in the back seat of the car for him to send to a babysitter's house at around 9.30am.

Supt Razak pointed out that the father drove from their house in Bandar Putra to his workplace in Saleng town without realising his daughter was in the back seat.

"The babysitter then called the father at around 3pm asking him why they did not send their child to her house.

"The father then went to his car and found his daughter in a weakened condition," he said, adding that the father drove directly to the Kulai Hospital but it was too late.

Supt Razak said a post-mortem would be carried out on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
