S'pore firm in deal to build water plant

JAKARTA • The Jakarta administration will cooperate with Singapore company Memiontec Ltd, via affiliated company Memiontec Indonesia, to develop a water treatment plant to convert water from the West Flood Canal into clean water.

The facility will be built in a city forest in North Jakarta this year. It is scheduled to be completed within 11/2 years, said Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.

S. Korean gay couple to appeal against ruling

SEOUL • The first South Korean gay couple to seek legal status for their same-sex marriage said they would appeal against a Seoul court decision rejecting their claim.

Their lawyer Ryu Min Hee said an appeal was to be filed yesterday, and added that two more same-sex couples would file separate suits seeking the same legal status for their marriages.
