AirAsia seeks $147m for budget terminal woes

KUALA LUMPUR • AirAsia is asking the Kuala Lumpur airport operator for RM409 million (S$147 million) to cover losses and damage the airline yesterday said it suffered using the new and old budget terminals.

The new terminal is sinking, causing cracks in the taxiways and leaving pools of water in the planes' path.

Anger over amnesty for Chinese illegal loggers

YANGON • Myanmar's newspapers and social media users reacted with anger and disappointment yesterday to the government's decision to include 155 Chinese in a mass amnesty, just eight days after they were jailed for illegal logging.

Critics vented frustration over what they saw as the government caving in to pressure from China.
