2nd Singaporean held for drug possession

JAKARTA • The airport authorities in the Indonesian island of Bali have arrested another Singaporean for drug possession - the second drug case involving a Singapore citizen in the last month.

The suspect, identified as Desmond Goh Thiam Ann, was caught with 1.47g of methamphetamine and two ecstasy pills when he arrived at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport last Friday night.


Malaysia, Brunei boost green tech cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR • Malaysia and Brunei have agreed to strengthen and further develop cooperation in green technology during a visit by Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Malaysia's capital.

To that end, a memorandum of understanding was inked yesterday, in a ceremony witnessed by the Sultan and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Bernama news agency reported.

The meeting in Kuala Lumpur was part of an annual summit between the countries.


Vietnam War radio presenter dies at 87

HANOI • Silky-voiced propaganda broadcaster "Hanoi Hannah", famous for urging American GIs to leave her country during the Vietnam War, has died at the age of 87.

The radio presenter, whose real name was Trinh Thi Ngo, died last Friday at her home in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the state-run Voice of Vietnam radio station.
