Photo essay: Fragile Inle lake under threat

Inle, Myanmar's second largest freshwater lake, is home to and the source of life for 700,000 or so people - mostly of the Intha minority - who live on and around the water. In recent years, Inle lake has come under threat, faced with the twofold challenge of market and modernisation.

Photojournalist Sim Chi Yin documents the fragility of the lake for The Straits Times. View more photos on Through The Lens' Today in Pictures here.
