Kampung Jal Besar in Malaysia's north-eastern town of Tumpat, in Kelantan, remained under water yesterday despite the heavy rain stopping. The east coast states are sitting out the floods that have inundated various areas, with thousands of residents still at flood relief centres. Just across the border in Thailand, torrential rain has killed eight and cut transport links in the country's south.
