End drone strikes, new Pakistan PM Sharif tells US

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Pakistan's new prime minister Nawaz Sharif called on Wednesday for the United States to end its campaign of drone attacks in the country's tribal northwest in his first address since taking office.

"We respect the sovereignty of others and they should also respect our sovereignty and independence. This campaign should come to an end," he said after lawmakers endorsed him for an unprecedented third term as premier.
