NAYPYITAW • Singapore's Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is in Naypyitaw, Myanmar, from March 14 to 16, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement yesterday.

During the visit, he will call on President Htin Kyaw and meet State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Mr Goh will also meet patron of the Union Solidarity and Development Party and former president Thein Sein; chairman of the Union Parliament's Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues Commission, and former Union Parliament speaker Thura U Shwe Mann; and Member of Parliament and former Union Minister in the President's Office Soe Thane.

Mr Goh and Mr Htin Kyaw will also witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the SMVTI Vocational Training Institute, which will see the gradual handover of the SMVTI to Myanmar over the next three years.

This is part of Singapore's skills and knowledge transfer to support Myanmar's long-term development.

Mr Goh will be accompanied by Singapore Members of Parliament Zaqy Mohamad and Joan Pereira as well as officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
