An army of photographers gathered at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office yesterday to capture the return of the woman at the centre of South Korea's biggest political scandal involving President Park Geun Hye. Ms Choi Soon Sil was detained late last night. She is accused of using her intimate friendship with Ms Park to exert her influence over major government decisions, and abusing her power to raise millions of dollars for two non-profit organisations she founded. Earlier, she pleaded for forgiveness from South Koreans, saying she had committed a sin and deserved death.
