He could be inspecting troops, staring down foreign visitors across a long table, or instructing party cadres and officials. China's President Xi Jinping is often depicted as a leader who rules with an iron fist.

The Chinese media, however, has recently painted another picture of the man, saying that behind the scenes, he is a loving husband who calls his wife every night, and an avid sports fan who swims 1km daily.
