Taiwan defence report out today

Taiwan's Defence Minister Feng Shih-kuan is due to present the 2017 Quadrennial Defence Review to Parliament today.

The first since President Tsai Ing-wen took office last May, the defence report draft traditionally advocates independence for Taiwan, which China claims is its wayward province to be taken back by force if necessary.


IT Show 2017 opens today

The popular annual IT Show will open today with its usual line-up of the latest tech gizmos and gadgets. Highlights include the launch of laptops, a smart outdoor watch and ChatSim, the world's first SIM card that offers unlimited messaging globally on chat apps. The show ends on Sunday.


Lianhe Zaobao forum on Budget 2017

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and NTUC secretary-general, will participate today in a dialogue moderated by Lianhe Zaobao editor Goh Sin Teck at the Lianhe Zaobao Singapore Budget 2017 Business Forum. Conducted in Mandarin, the forum targets the heads of small and medium-sized enterprises, offering them the opportunity to have a deeper understanding of this year's Budget vis-a-vis their businesses.
