China's top advisory body meets today

The annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, opens today. Running parallel with the National People's Congress session, which kicks off on Saturday, the two major political meetings come amid concern over the health of the world's second largest economy which is facing slowing growth, overcapacity and volatile markets. The two sessions end on March 16.

SGfuture engagement session

The Ministry of Communications and Information and the National Library Board will be organising an SGfuture engagement session today at library@orchard. Participants are expected to share ideas on how to encourage lifelong learning through reading, and how to build a strong reading culture in Singapore.

All eyes on US economic data

Investors will be paying close attention to the range of economic data that will be released in the United States today.

Apart from jobless claims there, there will also be data on the manufacturing sector, factory orders and productivity, in a busy trading day ahead.
