SEOUL - South Korea reported an additional case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) on Friday, bringing the total number of people diagnosed with the disease to 184.

There have been no deaths reported over the past three days, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Yonhap news agency reported, adding that the death toll remains at 33.

The latest case is a nurse from Seoul's Samsung Medical Centre, which has been responsible for nearly half of all infections here since the country reported its first case on May 20.

The hospital declared a 10-day suspension of most health services last month to stem the spread of the virus and this was later extended indefinitely.

Out of the 184 people diagnosed with Mers, 42 remain hospitalised, with 12 of them in critical condition, Yonhap reported.
