BEIJING (AFP) - Three people were condemned to death on Friday and one given life in prison for a mass stabbing that killed 31 people in China, state media said, in an attack the authorities blamed on separatists from largely Muslim Xinjiang.

The convictions and sentences were handed down on Friday by the Intermediate People's Court in Kunming, in the south-western province of Yunnan, state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
