TOKYO (Bloomberg) - Japan's Justice Minister Mitsuhide Iwaki visited a Tokyo war shrine at the start of an annual autumn festival on Sunday (Oct 18), Kyodo reported, citing the minister.
Internal Affairs Minister Sanae Takaichi also plans to visit the Yasukuni shrine on Sunday, Kyodo said, without saying where it got the information. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent an offering to the shrine on Saturday, Kyodo reported earlier, risking provoking tensions with China and South Korea just two weeks before a trilateral summit planned for Seoul.
The shrine commemorates millions of Japan's war dead, including leaders convicted as Class A war criminals.
