Hong Kong police start clearing last of Occupy Central camp sites

HONG KONG - Police have begun clearing the last of the street blockades set up by pro-democracy protesters at Yee Wo Street in Causeway Bay, Radio Television Hong Kong reported.

Most of the activists had left before the clearance operation started at around 10.15am, with only around 10 saying they were prepared to stay and get arrested, RTHK said.

Some 400 police officers are deployed for the clearance operation, while another 400 to 600 are on standby in case of clashes, South China Morning Post reported, as happened at the clearance of another Occupy site in Mong Kok last month.
