Escaped ostrich dies after being captured by drivers in China

BEIJING - An ostrich made its escape after being bought at a market in the Chinese city of Foshan, dashed through the traffic but died after being captured by drivers.

Video footage aired by state broadcaster CCTV showed the bird running alongside cars and buses on Wednesday before being captured by a group of men.

The men were seen in the video dragging the ostrich off the road. The bird was later shown lying on the ground.

Reuters news agency said a local newspaper reported that two ostriches, belonging to a resident in the city in Guangdong province, had died after escaping.
