A black sport utility vehicle ended up on the roof of a house in eastern China after the driver lost control of the car, Chinese media reported. Closed-circuit television footage showed the car swerving in a wide arc and crashing into the tiled roof of a house beside the road in Taizhou City, Jiangsu province. There was "a big bang (and) I saw a car stuck in the roof", the homeowner said in an interview. Part of the roof collapsed due to the impact. The driver climbed out of the vehicle using a ladder and appeared unhurt. He said he was trying to avoid other vehicles and stepped on the accelerator by mistake. He was going at about 70kmh at the time, he told a policeman. The car was lifted off the roof with a crane, footage from Chinese broadcaster CCTV showed.
