Students majoring in elementary education staging a rally yesterday in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to protest against its decision to employ fewer teachers for elementary schools in Seoul next year. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has said it would recruit just 105 elementary school teachers for next year, down from 846 for this year. It said this was because there has been a decrease in elementary school pupils due to the country's low birthrate.
