Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema have posted photos of their baby son accompanying his parents on a royal visit to Bhutan's Bumthang district on Tuesday (Aug 9).

Hundreds of Bhutanese turned up to greet the six-month-old prince, named Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, when he arrived at Bumthang.

The photos of the prince's visit were posted on the Facebook pages of King Wangchuck and Queen Pema.

It is not the first time that the royal has appeared in public with his parents. He has also previously accompanied his parents on similar visits, including to Dungkhar village on June 15 this year.

The baby prince was born on Feb 5.

King Wangchuk, 36, was officially crowned king in 2008 after his father abdicated two years earlier.

He married Queen Pema, 26, in a fairy-tale ceremony in 2011. The baby is the couple's first child.
