Beijing reports 31 new confirmed coronavirus cases

BEIJING - Beijing city on Wednesday (June 17) reported 31 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus amid concerns about a new wave of infections spreading in the Chinese capital.

The new cases discovered on Tuesday exclude three suspected cases and six asymptomatic cases, said the Beijing Municipal Health Commission.

Nationwide, China reported 44 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday alone, including 11 imported infections and 33 local cases, according to a statement from China's National Health Commission.

Besides the 31 cases in Beijing, Hebei and Zhejiang each reported one case of local infection.
