Basement fire at Shanghai Hongqiao airport kills two: Report

BEIJING (REUTERS) - A fire in a basement at the Shanghai Hongqiao airport has killed two people and injured three, the People's Daily said on Friday (April 29).

The fire broke out in the basement of terminal one at the airport at around 7 am local time (7.00 am Singapore time) during an underground renovation project, the People's Daily said on its official microblog.

The airport is operating as normal, an official at the airport said. “There’s been no impact on airport operations,” said the official.
