At least 11 killed, 24 injured in karaoke fire in China's Henan province

BEIJING (China Daily/Asia News Network) - Eleven people have been killed and at least 24 injured after a karaoke room caught fire in Changyuan county, central China's Henan province, at around 12:20pm on Monday, according to the local government website.

The blaze was brought under control at about 1:05 am. Thirty-five people were rushed to the hospital, of whom 11 succumbed to their injuries.

Bo Xuebin, Communist Party chief of Changyuan, ordered all karaoke bars in the county to suspend operations and undergo overhaul following the accident, Xinhua news agency reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
