Top of the agenda this year is amending the country's Constitution to remove two-term limits for the presidency and vice-presidency. The proposed revision is expected to be debated and passed by the National People's Congress (NPC) at its annual session.

This will effectively allow President Xi Jinping to stay in power indefinitely.
