An aerial view of the damage from floods due to heavy rain brought by Typhoon Malakas in the south-western city of Nobeoka in Japan's Miyazaki prefecture yesterday. At least 36 people were injured and one went missing as the powerful typhoon, packing winds of up to 180kmh, swept across the country. Torrential rains caused serious flooding that washed away a bridge and inundated homes. Japanese officials have issued evacuation advisories that affected about 620,000 people.
