Beware 'forced shopping' in jewellery hub

Hong Kong Customs officers handing out leaflets to tourists from mainland China visiting jewellery shops in Hong Kong's jewellery trading hub of Man Lok Street yesterday.

A sales supervisor at D2 Jewellery, where a tourist from China was allegedly beaten before he died in hospital last month, was arrested by Customs officers on Thursday in connection with an alleged case dubbed "forced shopping".

This happens when tourists are harassed into buying items against their will. According to the South China Morning Post, the director of D2 Jewellery, a mainland tourist escort, a local tour guide and another shop employee are still at large.
