Bangladesh court declares top Islamist party illegal

DHAKA (AFP) - Bangladesh's high court ruled on Thursday that the country's main Islamist party was illegal after a petition was lodged arguing that Jamaat-e-Islami's charter breaches the constitution.

"It is hereby declared illegal," said Moazzem Hossain, the chief judge hearing the case.
