Honour killing: Brother of victim charged

ISLAMABAD • A Pakistani court has charged the brother of a slain social media star with her murder, in one of the country's highest-profile "honour killings".

Model Qandeel Baloch, who shot to fame for her provocative selfies that polarised the conservative Muslim country, was strangled in July by her brother Muhammad Waseem.

He confessed to his crime in a press conference after his arrest.

Cop dies, another hurt while fleeing raids

KUALA LUMPUR • A policeman died while another was seriously injured after they tried to evade detection during anti-vice raids in two separate locations yesterday.

The first policeman was believed to be staying with his lover in an apartment in Pandan Perdana, in Kuala Lumpur, during the raid.

He reportedly escaped by jumping out of a window and fell to his death.

In a separate raid, another police officer suffered injuries after he, too, jumped out of an apartment unit in Taman Puchong Perdana, Selangor. He was in critical condition.
