New political party in Malaysia approved

PUTRAJAYA • Malaysia's Registrar of Societies has approved in principle the formation of former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin's new political party, to be known as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, or PPBM.

China university plans war trials database

SHANGHAI • A Chinese university plans to build Asia's largest database on the Japanese war criminal trials that followed World War II.

Shanghai Jiaotong University, together with the National Library of China and the Second Historical Archives of China, will compile the database in Chinese, English and Japanese and it will be open to international researchers.
