June enrolment for Peking Uni in Oxford

BEIJING • China's Peking University will start staff recruitment and student enrolment for its new British campus in the city of Oxford in June, according to the dean of its HSBC Business School yesterday.

Professor Hai Wen said the school will enrol 100 international students when it opens in August 2018. It will coincide with the 120th founding anniversary of the elite Beijing university.

Sibu Airport to reopen today

SIBU (Malaysia) • Sibu Airport is expected to resume normal operations by noon today, instead of 10pm yesterday as previously scheduled.

The delay was due to repair works being carried out on the runway, after a Malaysia Airlines aircraft skidded on Saturday when attempting to land during a heavy downpour.

Release Rohingya children: Unicef

YANGON • The United Nations' children's agency Unicef has called on Myanmar's government to release Rohingya children detained as part of a sweeping military campaign in Rakhine state.

Over 600 people were arrested in an army crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in the north of the restive state. The operation was launched following deadly attacks by militants on police posts in October.
