Four missing off Sabah coast found alive

PETALING JAYA • Four people, including two Spaniards, who went missing off the coast of Sabah on May 2 have been found alive by Vietnamese fishermen, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency confirmed. Efforts are under way to bring the four back to Malaysia.

Shallow quake hits Taiwan coastal city

TAIPEI • Buildings shook in the Taiwanese capital Taipei yesterday as a 5.6-magnitude quake hit off the island's north-east coast. The shallow quake struck just east of the coastal city of Yilan, 60km from Taipei. There were reports of minor damage, according to Yilan fire department.

Giant panda cub dies five days after birth

CHENGDU (Sichuan) • China's first giant panda cub born this year died this week, five days after its birth at a breeding centre in south-west Chengdu, the centre confirmed. An autopsy showed no abnormality in its organs and the cub had been feeding and growing normally. The cub died on Tuesday.
