Envoy summoned over Kashmir killings

NEW DELHI • India summoned Pakistan's envoy in New Delhi yesterday to protest against the weekend killing of at least six civilians in Indian Kashmir after heavy border firings, raising tensions ahead of the Aug 23 talks between the nuclear-armed rivals.

A Pakistani official said two civilians were killed by Indian soldiers on the Pakistani side.

Four tourists missing on Borneo dive trip

JAKARTA • Four foreign tourists were missing while on a scuba diving trip in the waters off Borneo, an official said yesterday.

The group of six - five Italians and a Belgian - had headed to Sangalaki island, a popular dive spot in East Kalimantan province, on Saturday, provincial search and rescue chief Hendra Sudirman said. He said two Italians were safe but the rest were missing.

Plane crash at Tokyo golf course kills two

TOKYO • Two men, believed to have been a pilot and his passenger, were killed after an ultralight plane crashed into a golf course north-east of Tokyo, police said yesterday.

The two-seater plane, which went missing on Saturday, was found at a nearby golf course early Sunday with the two victims, aged 59 and 57, in the cockpit, a police spokesman said.
