DPM Teo to visit Myanmar

SINGAPORE'S Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will make an official visit to Myanmar from today to Thursday, at the invitation of Myanmar Vice-President Sai Mauk Kham.

DPM Teo, who is also Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, will visit Naypyitaw and Yangon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Philippine show angers China

BEIJING - China has accused the Philippines of spreading misinformation and "creating the illusion of the victim" in their dispute over the South China Sea after Manila aired a documentary defending its position.

The first of a three- part documentary series titled Maritime Rights was released as the Philippines observed Independence Day on June 12.

Thai app to woo Muslim tourists

BANGKOK - Thailand yesterday launched a smartphone app to attract Muslim visitors, something that could help boost an industry which has been recovering steadily since a coup last year. Thailand is mainly Buddhist, but parts of the south are majority Muslim. Known for its powder-white beaches, Thailand draws millions of tourists each year.
