NEW DELHI - A five-storey apartment block in Mumbai collapsed yesterday evening, with some 20 residents feared trapped under the debris, according to New Delhi Television (NDTV).
NDTV also reported that one woman is dead and three injured people have been rescued.
The Altaf building is located at the Mahim district in central Mumbai. Part of the residential block might have given way due to the heavy monsoon rain, which started on Sunday, the report said.
The rescue operation is under way.
The accident comes two months after a seven-storey building collapsed on Mumbai’s outskirts and killed 74 people, leading to the arrest of two builders and seven others in connection with the tragedy.
