Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to emergency situations such as the SMRT train breakdowns, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean.

He also said that the Committee of Inquiry to be commissioned by the Government to look into the breakdowns must look into SMRT's emergency procedures.

'Every organisation must make sure that it has got its own processes and procedures .. I think that's the most important thing,' said DPM Teo.

Speaking at an emergency preparedness event at the Apex Harmony Lodge in Pasir Ris on Dec 18, he emphasised the need for Singaporeans to be prepared for all kinds of situations.
