To apply to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, you can call
 1800-222-0000.
This number will automatically connect you to an operator, who will direct you to the nearest Family Service Centre. A social worker will then arrange an appointment with you. You will be required to bring along some personal documents to prove your eligibility and to fill up the application form.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, the applicant (i.e. the child) must be:
| a | Singapore citizens or permanent residents |
| b | Full-time students receiving formal education in the following institutions: |
| |
- mainstream primary or secondary school
- a special education school, Vocational School for the Handicapped; or
- religious school

| c | Living in an HDB four-room flat or smaller |
| d | From a family whose per capita household income is not more than $450 (i.e the average income, per family member, living in the household should not be more than $450) |
How much does a beneficiary receive?
The amount disbursed is as follows:
| Primary Level | : | $45 per month |
| Secondary level, with exception to special schools | : | $80 per month |
Disbursing Agencies include:
- Family Service Centres
- Special Education/ Vocational Schools
- Disability Voluntary Welfare Organisations
- Children's Homes
Disbursement of the pocket money to the beneficiary is done on a monthly basis, until they complete their secondary education. Administering agencies are still receiving fresh applications as more needy families are identified.
