MEDIA giant Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has given more than $6 million to charity this year.

This includes over $4 million raised by The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund; $500,000 donated to the Community Chest to mark SPH's 25th anniversary; and more than $20,000 worth of gifts and food items given by SPH employees to the Boys' Brigade Sharity Gift Box.

SPH's next charity project, the ChildAid concert, aims to raise $1 million for the school pocket-money fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

All 4,800 tickets for its three shows from Dec 19 to 21 have been sold out - for the fifth year running. It will be the first event held at Resorts World Sentosa.

Said SPH chief executive Alan Chan: "Many of our projects involve both our staff and fellow Singaporeans, so that we can assist and inspire everyone to help the needy."
