20 copies signed by MM sold out
Publication date: 30 August 09, Sun

All 20 autographed copies of the new book on the People's Action Party (PAP) have been snapped up.

Yesterday, one buyer who declined to be named reserved five copies of the book, Men In White: The Untold Story Of Singapore's Ruling Political Party, which will be signed by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

They are sold at $10,000 each and proceeds go to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

The buyer, a 40-year-old company executive, said he is going to give away four copies to friends. Another copy will be donated to a charity auction.

'My friends are interested in the book because they were from that generation. Plus, it's autographed by MM Lee,' he said.

The book, which sheds light on the early struggles in the PAP and its evolution since then, is written by senior Straits Times journalists Sonny Yap, 59, Richard Lim, 60, and Leong Weng Kam, 55. To be launched on Sept 8 at The Arts House, it will be available at leading bookstores at $39.90 a copy before GST.
