AT CEREBOS Pacific's charity futsal tournament for its business partners at East Coast Park last Saturday, teams had to donate $20 each to the School Pocket Money Fund each time they conceded a goal.
The health supplements and food products company, a stalwart supporter of the Fund since 2001, raised $2,020 for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund when 38 goals were scored for 11 matches.
The matches raised $760.
Cerebos matched the amount dollar-for-dollar, event host and Amigos player Justin Misson donated $480, then an HSBC player gave an extra $20.
Six teams took part - Cerebos, HSBC, Oracle, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Amigos (made up of former Cerebos staff) and The Straits Times & Friends.
Cerebos executive vice-president and chief financial officer Ramlee Buang pledged to make the tournament an annual event.
'This is a great way for us to have a day of fun...and raise funds and awareness of the School Pocket Money Fund, our corporate charity,' he said.
Mr Ramlee said he plans to get more teams to participate next year so 'more goals can be scored and more money can be raised'.
The Straits Times & Friends won, beating Oracle 2-0 in a hard-fought final.
